From thesis topic to research plan
You know what you want to investigate.
Let's establish how to do it.
Support with the methodology chapter of a bachelor's or master's thesis includes clarifying the aim, research questions and hypotheses, and selecting a method and research instrument. We can discuss your existing design or help you plan a study from scratch. We connect the research assumptions with the data needed to answer your thesis questions.
Plan your calculations before collecting responses. If the research requires comparisons or correlations, check out the service “Statistical analysis for bachelor’s and master’s theses”. I will help link the survey questions and hypotheses with the data needed for the tests.
What you gain
A well-thought-out research design before data collection
A clear direction for the thesis
You organise what you want to establish, who or what the research concerns, and which questions it must answer.
Questions with a purpose
You reduce the risk of creating a survey that collects many responses but misses the information needed for the thesis.
A foundation for results analysis
At the planning stage, you already know how the information you collect will relate to the research questions and later conclusions.
Scope of support
Research methodology and tools tailored to your thesis
We can help from the beginning or refine a specific element of an existing concept. The scope is determined based on the topic, university requirements, supervisor feedback, and the stage of research preparation. Practical examples are available in the guide on research methodology in a thesis.
Research subject, aims and questions
When you have a topic but need to translate it into specific research assumptions.
- Defining the subject of the research
- Formulating the main aim and specific aims
- Formulating the main research question
- Developing specific research questions
Result: an organised research scope and questions derived from the thesis topic.
Hypotheses, variables, and indicators
When you need to establish which characteristics or relationships to investigate and how to identify them.
- Formulating the main hypothesis and specific hypotheses, if appropriate for the project
- Selecting variables and indicators
- Translating concepts into observable or measurable information
- Linking assumptions with research questions
Result: you know what data are needed to verify the adopted assumptions.
Method, technique and methodology chapter
When you need to select and clearly describe how you will obtain your answers.
- Selection of the research method and choice of research technique
- Explaining why the method fits the research aim and subject
- Organising the description of the study group and the research process
- Organising the structure of the methodology chapter
Outcome: A coherent description of what you are studying, how, and why you have chosen this approach.
Questionnaire, interview, or document analysis
When you want to select a tool or prepare questions that align with the thesis concept.
- Selection or preparation of the research instrument
- Preparing the questionnaire
- Developing the interview protocol
- Preparing the document analysis sheet
- Aligning the instrument with the research questions and chosen hypotheses
Outcome: An instrument designed to collect the information needed for subsequent analysis.

Help with your thesis methodology chapter
A study planned from the ground up
I help organise your methodology chapter and choose a research method, technique and instrument that fit your thesis topic.
AIM, METHOD AND INSTRUMENT IN A COHERENT RESEARCH PLAN
- choice of research method and technique
- help designing a questionnaire or interview guide
- alignment of the aim, questions and study
- a clear plan for the methodology section
Ask about methodology

Scope of support in brief
Connect your thesis aim with your research plan
Send the topic, concept, and supervisor's comments. I will help link the research questions with the method and instrument before you start collecting data.
- Clarifying the aim and research questions.
- Selecting the method, technique, and instrument.
- Checking the consistency of the planned research.
Reviewing the entire concept
Every question in the instrument should have a justification
Before you send the questionnaire to participants, I will check whether its questions can provide the information needed to answer your research questions. For interviews or document analysis, I will compare the protocol or sheet with the methodological assumptions. If necessary information is missing, I will indicate what needs to be refined before collecting material.
- Alignment of the aim and research questions with the thesis topic
- Feasibility of obtaining answers using the selected instrument
- Linking indicators and questions to the variables under study
- Clear wording, without suggesting answers
- Logical order of questions and appropriately selected response options
- Usefulness of the collected data for the planned analysis
It is best to discuss the instrument before sending the questionnaire or starting interviews. It is also worth planning a pilot test to check whether the questions and instructions are understandable to participants.
Tailored scope
The methodology chapter and research instrument as one coherent package
Support can end with organising the concept or include drafting the text of the chapter and the research instrument. We determine together which elements are already settled and what is still missing.
Methodology from the start
Based on the topic, thesis aim, and feasibility of the research, we prepare a proposal for assumptions, chapter structure, and description of the research method. The scope may include aims, problems, appropriate hypotheses, variables, indicators, group selection, and the questionnaire or interview protocol. You present the draft for discussion with your supervisor.
Improving existing methodology
Send the chapter, the research tool, and the supervisor's comments. We compare them, refine the wording, and fill in agreed gaps in the description. If the research has already been conducted, we align the description with its actual course, materials, and participant group.
The result may be a completed methodology chapter, a revised questionnaire or both, depending on the agreed task. Discuss the planned quantitative analysis before collecting responses. Explore the service “Statistical analysis for bachelor’s and master’s theses”.
First step
What to send to define the scope of support?
You do not need to have a finished methodology. Send what you already have and indicate where you need support.
Topic and field of study
Provide the thesis topic, its level, and what you want to investigate or explain.
Guidelines and supervisor's comments
Attach the methodology requirements and any agreements that must be considered.
Existing materials
Send the thesis plan, objectives, research questions, hypotheses, or a draft questionnaire. We can start by checking their consistency.
Research stage and deadline
State who you have access to, whether data collection has started, and when you need the material.

Questions about support for your own research methodology
Can I commission the preparation of a survey or questionnaire?
Yes. We prepare surveys, questionnaires, and other research tools for bachelor's theses, master's theses, and coursework. You can commission just the tool.
We need the topic, aim, research questions and any hypotheses that have been established. We tailor the questions to the research design, variables and indicators so you can collect the data needed for analysis. If the design is not yet ready, developing it can be included in the agreed support.
Does every thesis or survey require hypotheses?
No. Whether hypotheses are appropriate depends on the objective and nature of the research. Testing relationships requires a different approach from research focused on description or exploring experiences. We adapt the approach to the project and the requirements of the relevant degree programme.
If you formulate hypotheses, plan the data and analysis that will allow you to actually test them. Do not add them solely to fill out the chapter scheme.
Can you check an already written methodological chapter?
Yes. We can analyse its structure, the link between the objectives and research questions, and the consistency of the descriptions of the methods and research instrument. Include your supervisor's comments and the questionnaire or interview guide itself so that we can assess the whole, rather than the description alone.
What if I already have research results?
Send the tool used, the assumptions, and information about the collected data. First, we will check what questions the data can answer. The methodology description should reflect the actual course of the research; missing information cannot always be supplemented without additional data collection.
