Thesis research section: methodology, results and discussion

Need a coherent research section for your bachelor’s or master’s thesis? We connect methodology, the research instrument, actual material, results, and discussion. You can start with a research design or send analyses already completed. We agree on what to prepare and which data are needed.

Actual research, a clear structure

Show how the material leads to your conclusions

We help with connected stages of the empirical section, agreed as one order. We can refine the description of the method and research instrument, analyse the material provided, and relate the results to the thesis questions and literature. Work can begin before data collection, but the results are written up from an actual study. If methodology has its own chapter, we retain that structure without duplicating content.

The starting point is actual collected data and an account of how they were obtained. We compare the material with the research questions and agree on the analysis scope. We identify information needed to complete the description and the evidence supporting the conclusions.

Discuss your research section

From your material to the empirical section

Match the work to your study type

Questionnaires and quantitative data

  • A structure aligned with the research questions.
  • Tables and explanations linked to the actual dataset.
  • Conclusions that take account of the study group and limitations.

Interviews and open-ended responses

  • Categories organised from the material.
  • A discussion of relevant similarities and differences.
  • Examples of participants’ statements with their anonymity preserved.

Documents or mixed materials

  • Explicit criteria for selecting and analysing material.
  • A clear presentation of findings.
  • Connected sections that distinguish the different grounds for drawing conclusions.

What you receive

A clear connection between question, result, and conclusion

The work can include subsection structure, an account of the actual research process, a description of the sample or material corpus, results, and answers to the research questions. Discussion in relation to the literature is included within the agreed scope, using publications that can be consulted. We arrange these elements to follow the required thesis structure.

We distinguish observations in the material, their interpretation, and conclusions. The frequency of a statement in a few interviews is not treated as a representative survey finding. For numerical data, we check counts, percentage bases, and agreement between tables and commentary. Tables and quotations should support the analysis, rather than replace an explanation of what the results mean.

  • A coherent write-up of the agreed research section.
  • Results explained in the context of the aim and methods.
  • A summary that stays within the data.

Choose the right scope

A research section, results write-up, or statistical analysis?

For standalone work on collected data, including a full research chapter with conclusions, see Analysis and presentation of research results for your thesis. For test selection and calculations, see Statistical analysis for bachelor’s and master’s theses. Here, you can combine several stages: methodology and the research instrument, analysis of the material, and discussion in relation to the literature. We establish what is already prepared and what to develop in one order. Statistical tests are not added automatically.

If you already have a statistical report, we can base the write-up on it after checking what was calculated and which data were used. If the original dataset is unavailable for checking accuracy, we record that limitation. Any check of calculations, new analyses, and discussion in relation to the literature are agreed separately.

If the study is a standalone class or seminar assignment rather than part of a thesis, explore the service “Research projects”.

How we work

Three steps to the prepared material

  1. We check that the material is complete

We compare the aim, questions, methodology, research instrument, and data. We establish what has been collected, which analyses have been carried out, and what information is missing for an accurate account.

  2. We structure and write the chapter

We prepare the agreed structure, results write-up, and links to the thesis questions. Tables, calculations, and discussion are defined before starting.

  3. We check consistency and conclusions

We check table references, group labels, and whether the text agrees with the results. We deliver the text and agreed materials, identifying the limitations of the analysis.

Your first message

What should you send to agree on the scope?

  • The topic, aim, research questions, and hypotheses where appropriate.
  • The methodology chapter or an account of how the study was actually carried out.
  • Your questionnaire, interview guide, or document-analysis sheet.
  • An anonymised dataset, transcripts, or source documents.
  • Existing calculations, university guidelines, supervisor feedback, and the deadline.

Choose the right scope

What does the order include, and what is agreed separately?

  • For a results write-up, send the collected response dataset, transcripts, or documents, and explain how the material was obtained. We use this to prepare the agreed analysis and research-section text.
  • For a separate research design and methodology chapter, see Help with your thesis methodology chapter. Here, this can be combined with the later stages. The account of a completed study must reflect how it actually took place.
  • Before starting, we confirm the scope of new calculations and the literature needed for the discussion. You receive the agreed research-section text with results, interpretation, and references to the materials used.

Related services

A research plan and method description, a write-up of collected results or a research chapter, and calculations or checks of analyses are separate services. Choose the one that fits what you already have and what you need.

If the order also involves other thesis sections or further theoretical material, we can separately agree on writing based on actual sources.

Questions about scope and preparing materials

Can an already prepared research chapter be improved?

Yes. We can check the consistency of tables, charts, calculations, comments, and conclusions, and adjust the layout to the supervisor's comments. To verify the accuracy of the results, we will also need the source data and the research instrument.

Does every thesis need a separate methodology chapter?

There is no single structure suitable for all theses. The placement of the methods description and the division of chapters depend on the nature of the work and the guidelines of the supervisor or the university. We adapt the structure to the specific task.

The methods description should allow the reader to assess the approach taken. Depending on the type of thesis, it may form a separate chapter or part of an analytical or project chapter.

How does preparing the research chapter differ from statistical analysis?

The research chapter combines a description of the actual study, presentation of results, interpretation and answers to the thesis research questions. Statistical analysis concerns the choice of methods and calculations on quantitative data. You can request both types of support together, but we agree any new tests and verification of calculations separately after reviewing the material.

Does the service cover interviews and open-ended questions?

Yes, the scope can include organising participant accounts, coding, identifying categories or themes, and describing them with examples from the material. We adapt our approach to the chosen qualitative method and the thesis research questions.

Do I need to have collected data already to prepare the research part?

To describe the results, actual research material is required. Before collecting data, we can help plan the method, tool, and structure of the future analysis. We do not create results or descriptions of participants who did not take part in the study.
