Bachelor’s and master’s thesis consultations

Unsure how to narrow your topic, connect chapters or address your supervisor's feedback? A bachelor's or master's thesis consultation helps you work through a specific issue and decide what to do next. We agree the scope, materials, format and appointment time before the discussion.

Organise the next steps

Discuss the issue before making your next revision

Define the scope of the consultation

What you can bring

Topic, methodology and supervisor feedback – what will we discuss?

Topic and structure of the thesis

You want to discuss your idea, aim, chapter scope or order of topics. We help identify the decisions to make before developing the text.

Methodological consultation

You need to clarify how the research questions relate to the questionnaire, choice of material or presentation of results.

Feedback on existing text

You have supervisor comments and do not know where to start. We can compare them with agreed sections and organise the actions to be taken.

What you will receive

Agreed points you can refer to after the discussion

We tailor the scope to the question and the material that needs to be reviewed in advance. The consultation may include:

Preparation for the discussion

  • Reviewing the previously agreed set of materials.
  • Identifying the problem and questions requiring clarification.
  • Pointing out gaps that make it difficult to make decisions.

Discussing the issue

  • Explaining possible approaches.
  • Comparing solutions in the context of your thesis.
  • Separating the author's decisions from matters that need to be agreed with the supervisor.

Recording next steps

  • A brief summary of the agreed conclusions.
  • A list of tasks organised by priority and sequence.
  • Information on which materials to prepare for the next stage.

Before accepting the work, we confirm the appointment time, passages to read in advance and format of the summary. This makes sure our preparation focuses on the questions you want to discuss.

Start with specifics

Describe what you want to have clarified by the end of the meeting

The most useful consultation answers a specific question. Instead of sending just the document with a request to check everything, write about which decision you need support with. For example, you can indicate that the supervisor expects analysis rather than description, or that you are unsure whether the survey collects data needed for the thesis objective.

  • Choose the most important problem or highlight several issues that are connected.
  • Attach the fragments necessary to understand the problem, along with the plan and guidelines.
  • Provide the exact text of the supervisor's comment if it is the starting point.
  • Mark decisions that have already been approved and elements that cannot be changed.

Send your questions, the relevant passages and what you have already agreed with your supervisor. Before the consultation, we agree the scope of the review and the topics to discuss.

How we work

From question to a list of next steps

  1. Describe the issue and send your materials

Describe your stage of work and what you want to clarify. We consider what you need alongside the available materials and agree the preparation required.

  2. We confirm the format and appointment time

We agree the contact method, time and material to review in advance. A phone consultation takes place once these details are agreed, at the confirmed time.

  3. We discuss and organise the conclusions

We work through the agreed topics. You receive the agreed points in the confirmed format, so you know what to check, improve and prepare next.

Discussion or work on your material

Match the service to the expected result

During a consultation, we discuss the specified issue, compare approaches and organise the next steps. You can combine the discussion with work on a chapter, calculations or text revisions. We agree the scope of that work separately.

If you need a broader review of the document, we agree the scope and how you will receive the feedback. If the discussion is combined with work on your material, we confirm those deliverables separately.

First message

What should I send to arrange a consultation?

  • Your degree subject, type of thesis and topic or provisional area of interest.
  • A short list of questions and a description of the result you expect after the discussion.
  • Plan, necessary fragments, guidelines, and supervisor comments.
  • Information on what has already been approved and the current stage of the research.
  • The date you need and your preferred contact method, for us to confirm.

You do not need to know the service name. Describe your situation in your own words. After reviewing the materials, we confirm whether a consultation fits your needs and exactly what it will cover. We agree the appointment time and preparation with you after settling the scope of work.

Before starting, we confirm whether the selected option includes a summary and action list, as well as their format and level of detail.

Questions about scope and material preparation

I do not know which service to choose. Where should I start?

Send your material or explain what you are finding difficult. We will help determine whether you need a thesis review, proofreading, support with structure or analysis and presentation of research findings, for example. We can work on one element or combine several services.

Can university guidelines, supervisor comments or a JSA report be sent?

Yes. It is worth sending university requirements, feedback from your supervisor, a JSA report, your thesis topic and outline, a questionnaire, references or research findings, if they are relevant to the service.

This allows the scope of help to be tailored more accurately and the material prepared in line with actual requirements. The more information provided at the start, the easier it is to avoid corrections resulting from missing data.

How should I prepare for a thesis consultation?

Write down your questions and indicate what you want to clarify. Before the agreed time, send the relevant thesis fragment, plan, guidelines and supervisor comments. We confirm the scope of prior reading before the session to ensure the discussion covers the correct material.

Can thesis consultations take place by phone?

Yes, once we agree on the format, duration, scope and date. First, describe the issue and send the materials needed for preparation. Asking about our services does not book a consultation or include a discussion of the whole document.

Will I receive a written summary after the consultation?

A summary of what we agree and a list of next steps may be included in a consultation. We confirm the format, level of detail and how you will receive the notes before starting. If you also need a thesis section prepared or a written analysis of your document, we will include these in the agreed scope of work.

Does a consultation also include editing the text in my file?

Not automatically. A consultation is for discussing an issue and deciding on the next steps. Rewriting sections, preparing a chapter, carrying out calculations or making revisions requires a separate agreement on the scope and deliverables.
